Boris Johnson's Indian Love Affair

I thought Indian parliamentary debates were bad, till I saw this UK parliamentary debate. This is kinda embarrassing for them, not gonna lie.

On 21st April, 2022, Bristish Prime Minister Boris Johnson visited India. During his visit, he also went to a JCB factory, getting up-close and personal and really cozy with a bulldozer...

He was criticized heavily for this, because this is the same time during which mostly Muslim owned houses were being illegally demolished in Delhi.

In fact, Labour Party MP's like Zarah Sultana and Nadia Whittome also brought this up in the UK parliament. Something which if members of opposition in India did- questioning the democratically elected Prime Minister, that is- they'd spontaneously face an ED or income tax inquiry, have 25 false cases leveraged against them, or be bought in the next election cycle, but I digress.

Out of all the videos of the debate that were circulating, the clip that stood out the most to me was this one:

In the video, Nadia Whittome describes the illegal demolitions that took place in Delhi and strongly questions Johnson's MP, asking if the PM raised these concerns with Modi; if not, why not? And if the UK Prime Minister acknowledges that his visit to India has legitimized Modi and his right wing government's genocidal actions.

To which the MP being questioned replied, "We condemn any instances of discrimination. Thank you."

This is the parliamentary equivalent of you sending a long message to your crush, and your crush replying with, "Hmm..." or "Okay." Or you using multiple platforms to send out multiple complaints to your network service provider, only to get an automated email or bot reply in response (I'm looking at you, Airtel).

At this point, only Mahua Moitra or Asaduddin Owaisi can save UK parliamentary debates. Put Boris Johnson's MP's in touch with these Indian MP's; a few private tuitions and they'll learn how to answer in the parliament. This is the actual spice that colonizers need to steal -sorry- learn, from us.
